Find Your Niche

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

It’s a well known fact that many new businesses fail within the first few years, some internet businesses may do that within the first few months.  Of course there are many factors and skills that are needed to ensure the success of any business but one of the most important factors is to find your niche and that couldn’t be more true than on the internet.

First of all let’s be clear on the meaning here, in this case a niche is a special area of demand for a product or service. What you are after here is to find a way for your business to stand out from all the others that are providing similar products or services. What can you do to attract more potential customers to your business. One way to figure this out, because you may have to create this niche within your current business, is to ask your current customers what they want. You may be surprised that just a small adjustment in what you are already doing will make a big difference.

This may take a little time to figure out, you are going to have to look at your business ask yourself questions, ask your customers questions but something will float to the top. Maybe you are already doing something that’s different to your competitors and you just need to expand that a little. Justin Herald creator of the ‘Attitude’ label began with T-shirts and could have stuck with that but it soon became apparent that he could expand into a wider variety of products which he did very successfully.

Take the time to figure out your niche and you will create an opportunity to grow your business a lot further than if you had just kept doing the same things.

Have a Spectacular Day

Keys to Internet Success

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Remember the key to success of any kind is taking action. Yes you do have to take the right kind of action to reach your desired goal, but with no action there can be no sucess.

You also have the ability to choose where you put your attention, will  it be on the positive things in your life or the negative. We all have a mixture of both.

Following are a few points, stripped of all the tinsel, that will help in creating a successful internet business:

  • The first thing to understand is that an internet business is just like any other business you have to sell a product or service and your income has to be more than your expenses.
  • Whatever skills you don’t have for building and marketing your internet business can be aquired cheaply through outsourcing.
  • Target a specific or ‘niche’ market.
  • Find out what people want and give it to them. This means undertaking a little research but the internet is a great place to do that.

Take each point above and consider them carefully I know that they may have created more questions than they have answered but I want you to understand it doesn’t have to be complicated. If you want to have a successful internet business you can there is nothing about doing so that can’t easily be learned. Your key ingredients are as follows. You need:

  • Patience to learn
  • Persistence not to give up
  • Committment to keep at it

The internet presents some great opportunities for creating a comfortable income, replacing the one you have or building an empire and they are all available to anyone. You don’t need a huge office or lots of staff, there’s no need to travel to get to work, you are not tied to a specific time for working and you can take your work wherever you go.

Pay attention to your business everyday if you want to be successful you have to see your internet venture like you would any other business. Take it seriously, even if you don’t need to spend much to get started, it will grow if you give it the care it needs.

Have a prosperous day

A Word from Arren

Monday, January 4th, 2010

There are many reasons why I started an online business. Firstly, although I enjoyed my job as an engineer I knew I didn’t want to be doing it for the next 40 years. I wanted to spend time with my family and friends, I wanted to travel the world and live comfortably without the stresses and constraints of a job tying me down. I wanted to do more than just survive in life.

What could I do to improve my lifestyle? So once I realised that working for the next 40 years wasn’t what I wanted out of life, I started to think, what can I do that will give me a good income without the restrictions of time a regular job has. Now once I started seeking ways to make money without sacrificing time, an overflow of information started to come my way, initially it was very overwhelming, I had no idea what to do. So I sat back and weighed up my options, and can you guess the one that kept grabbing my attention, well it should be pretty obvious, it was to start an online business.

What was the biggest attraction of an online business?
I could start up with virtually no money, no risk, I could make money off someone else’s products and to top it off I could have access to a worldwide market 24hrs a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. There is no need to lease a shop front, hire a bunch of shop assistants, just a fully automated sales system that can work for me while I sleep. Passive income solves a lot of problems if you can build it up strong enough even more so if the method you use can be duplicated.  If you can show me another way of achieving that, then “Count me in”. I could get started without having to leave my current position.

Still not convinced?
Well if you’re still not convinced, let me give you a couple of internet statistics that may. The internet is estimated to have over 20% of the world’s population currently online, which is over 1 billion people who could potentially be you’re customer. It is also estimated that out of those users the online spending was over US$5.0 trillion in 2006 and increasing, imagine getting just a slice of that.

Have an awesome day

Internet Business Success

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Success on the internet can be achieved in a number of ways and in any industry,  any limitations you perceive can be easily overcome with imagination, creativity, knowledge and action. However to help you get started I have put together a simple guide that may assist you with your web business success.

Find the Right Industry The internet opens doors for just about everyone in just about every industry. Business examples that are currently successful and growing include education, electronics, cosmetics, entertainment in both sales and service industries . When deciding what industry you want to base your internet business on, there are a number of factors which you may want to consider, having any one of these may be enough to determine the most suited industry for you.

  • What industry appeals to you
  • Do you have knowledge or skill in a particular field
  • Is the industry beneficial to others
  • Is it a well sort after industry

Find the Right Product Similar to finding the right industry, finding the right product to market requires first having a general interest in the product or a good knowledge of the product and how it works. It’s also beneficial to believe in the product and thus use the product yourself, it would be very difficult to convince others to buy your product if you’re not convinced by it yourself. The right product should also be of good quality and bring value to the customer.

Find the Right Partners Partnering up with other websites is often overlooked however the result of doing so can be quite significant. So how do you find the right web partner? The following criteria should ensure that you find the right partner for your web business.

  • You should look for someone who you can trust
  • They should be in a similar market, but not be your competition.
  • It’s good if they are already well known and have a good track record.
  • They partnership should also be beneficial to both of you.

Do the Right Research A vital part of any business is research, I’m sure you can understand that it would be a lot easier and more effective to understand your customers needs and what they went as opposed to a customer whom you know nothing about. Research should never stop for a business as markets continually change, especially on the internet where things can change daily. Your research may involve finding current market trends, trying to predict/forecast future markets, determining the geography and also the demographics of your target market in other words who your target market is and where they are.

Have the Right Attitude I believe 80 percent of success is made up of having the right mindset/attitude. Thus, in order to be a great success at a web business you need to have the right attitude. This involves doing whatever it takes, having the desire and motivation to overcome challenges, and doing it for the right reason, which is to give value to others. Because mindset is so important, getting and keeping yours right be considered as equally important as any other part of your internet business strategy.

Power Thought

I have created a large, passive, dependable, permanent income.

Repeat this thought often.

Have a Happy Day

Want Extra Income? – Can the Internet Do It For You?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

photo_4621_20090216I think most of us could answer a resounding ‘yes’ to the first question but what about the second? Again for most of us that could be a little harder to answer.

There are successful and not so successful people in just about every industry and there are obviously reason’s for that. In other posts I have talked about the importance of mindset but today we will just look at the internet.

If you already have an established business offline then setting up an online presense is relatively easy. In fact setting up a website for any reason is very easy these days but the main thing required for any online site that wants to attract business, and therefore sales, is getting visitors.

Right now I am going to assume you have a website and a product to sell because they are not hard to find. The more challenging part of earning extra income online is getting visitors, for without them there can be no sales. You have two avenues open to you, offline marketing and online marketing.

Offline Marketing

Most of us who have ever been in business or bought a product or service from a business will be familiar with the various forms of offline marketing. Radio, television, newspaper and magazines not to mention signs, logos on cars, buses etc,  junk mail and lately we are inundated more and more with telemarketers at dinner time.

So depending on your advertising budget and the physical reach of your business there are numerous ways to advertise offline. It’s also important to note that the biggest and most successful businesses continue to spend thousands of dollars on advertisng to ensure they stay up there with their competitors.

Now, I’m not suggesting that you spend thousands of dollars on advertising your online business offline, what I am impressing on you though, is the importance of it, to even the most successful businesses and the many avenues for doing so. Advertising your online business offline can be beneficial and should not be overlooked when you set up your marketing plan.

Online Marketing

Alright, let’s get down to it, marketing online. This is where many businesses online fail just as they do offline. There are a number of online strategies for marketing your business and when you are new to it they can all seem a bit overwhelming.

If you have a product or service that can be delivered or purchased online then there is a good chance, with the right strategies, you will be opening your business to a hugh potential worldwide market. If you already have a list of customers you can start an email marketing campaign that will keep them up to date with any new services, products or promotions.

If you don’t have a product or service then you can still earn income online by selling other peoples products through affiliate marketing programs. I won’t go into that now but if this is your avenue you will still need marketing techniques, so stay with me.

To generate new customers you can use pay per click advertising, which looks like a small newspaper add, google displays it at random times on sites of relevance and you only pay when people click through to your site. This type of advertising can be very effective, but be careful when you set it up by using keywords and monitor it. You want your click throughs to convert to sales or it can get very costly.

If you want to test the waters without spending too much or nothing at all there are ways but you will be spending time a little or a lot. Setting up social media pages that are connected to your business is one way, be sure to update regularly and join groups that would have an interest in what you are marketing. For example if you sell dog products you would look for a dog lover group to join.photo_9893_20091115

Setting up a blog or writing articles is another way but you will want quality information that people interested in your product would want to read. You do not sell from these sites you simply provide free relevant updates or information with links to your website. These too must be updated regularly so search engines pick them up and you slowly start to rank higher, give this some time though. If you are regular, use keywords, and link to your site it will happen, it may take some months for you to see it though. Wordpress is a good site for setting up a blog and ezine articles is great for article writing.

The internet has made millionaires and will continue to do so, the world is always looking for the next new thing. Maybe you are on your way or maybe you will just supplement your existing income and make life a little easier, either way learn as much as you can. The internet is very effective but it can also be a trap so set some rules for yourself, don’t just get on and see where it takes you find an expert in the field, someone who is already successful and stick with them.

Power Thought

Every step I take is closer to my goal.

Repeat this to yourself regularly

Have a great day

A New Way to Work

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Making money in hard times has never been easier, many people, myself included have found a New Way to Work. This is my story.

Widowed at forty eight, I wasn’t destitute but with a young daughter, a mortgage and low skills I knew I had to do something. Working as a waitress or cleaner wasn’t going to pay the mortgage and give me time to look after my daughter, I had to find a New Way to Work. So like most people these days I turned to the internet. I googled, home businesses and making money online, it took some time but I sifted my way through many, many possibilities looking for some that would work for me.

I knew if I was going to make it work I would have to enjoy what I was doing so I decided to consider something I loved to do and I also wanted to learn some new skills. I found a few opportunities that I have since taken up and all are working well, I can do them around my daughters schedule, from home or away and they are completely flexible.

My love of writing led me to freelance writing opportunities through Elance, I have also learned to earn an income by writing blogs through the Year of the Affiliate (YOTA) program and am building an online wealth homestudy business with the support of 21st Century Academy. Oh, and I almost forgot I also have an online store with ebay. It has taken some time and effort but I have been able to build multiple streams of income all online and from the comfort of home.

How much time I spend on each of these is up to me, as little or as much as I like but like any other business time, effort, persistence and consistency equals reward. Still, it is a lot less and a lot easier than your usual 40 hour plus work week in the traditional workforce.

There are so many good New Way to Work opportunities to be found on the internet but also many that promise much and deliver little so just a few words of warning. Look for businesses or companies like Elance, YOTA, Ebay or 21st Century Academy that are well known and well established. If you are investing money make sure you know exactly what you’re getting and last but not least time and effort is required so don’t be seduced by get rich quick promises. Unless your lucky enough to win the lotto there’s not much that doesn’t require some time and effort to be achieved. This New Way to Work works for me.
